The individual measurements are summarized to provide information on irregularity, noise and the overall degree of disturbance of the vocal fold function, which can also be seen as objective indicators of roughness, breathyness and hoarseness of the voice.
Studies have clearly shown that acoustic measurements such as jitter and shimmer are not specific for pathological vocal characteristics such as roughness, breathiness and hoarseness and are therefore of little use in clinical application. Therefore, the Vospector measurements irregularity and noise (GNE) were developed.

On the left, fundamental frequency, jitter, shimmer and GNE of a current recording can be seen, in the middle the values of a comparative recording. On the right, a comparison of irregularity, noise and overall degree (based on roughness, breathiness and hoarseness) is summarized.
